Jerry Cushing — Branch Manager, Sarasota

Jerry joined the ALERT team in 2008 and was quickly promoted to an Account Manager after realizing his talent and background was well suited to a management role.  Preparing for and anticipating further growth, the Operations Manager position was created for the Sarasota Branch in late 2008 and Jerry was promoted into this new position after an outstanding job as an Account Manager.

During his time as Operations Manager, Jerry excelled at controlling labor expenses and providing excellent customer service.  He did this through efficient scheduling, officer training and ongoing quality assurance inspections.  After growth lead to the opening of the Fort Myers branch in 2009, Jerry was chosen to succeed Rob Hurth as Sarasota Branch Manager. 

Mr. Cushing reports to Jason Hamilton, CPP and has responsibility for the overall operation of both static security and patrol services throughout Sarasota, Manatee and parts of Charlotte County, from Port Charlotte, north.  This includes direct supervision & mentorship of his branch field management team:  Operations Manager, Account Managers and Patrol Manager. Jerry is also responsible for client interaction, relationship building and issue follow up and resolution.

Jerry’s experience includes his enlistment in the United States Air Force as a Security Specialist from with 12 years of experience, from 1981 – 2003.  During this time, he held various logistical and supervisory positions and was involved in the planning and implementation of security procedures and programs pertaining to the protection of “A, B and C resources”.  In addition, Mr. Cushing was also involved in numerous combat operations, including Operation Urgent Fury in Grenada.  While involved in Grenada, he received the Bronze Star medal with “V” device for Valor for his actions while engaged in combat.

In addition to his security experience in the USAF, Jerry was the regional Safety and Security Manager for the Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES).  Primarily an OSHA and Loss prevention entity, Jerry and his team were responsible for the security and safety of facilities ranging from department stores to service stations and movie theaters.  His background also includes ownership of a small business, operating his own music studio and continuing education in security and business management.  In his role as Operations Manager with ALERT, he is also an active member of the CAI – West Florida Chapter.
